14 May 1920, Chicago, Illinois, USA — Alleged “King of the Underworld” of Chicago Slain. James Colosimo, the alleged uncrowned king of Chicago’s underworld was assassinated in his cafe at 2126 Wabash Ave. The dead man came to this country eighteen years ago and amassed a fortune. His cafe became the center of the night life in the midwest metropolis. On March 29th, he received a divorce from his wife Victoria who had aided him in making his fortune.
